Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson

Cat Cranwell is a social media darling with millions of followers and companies begging for her endorsements, but when she partners with the wrong man on an app deal and is under investigation for financial crimes, she becomes a pariah. When her Uncle Terry offers her a job at his park in Montana, she thinks it's out of pity, but he's desperate for her social media knowledge. Their beloved Kannery National Park is about to be absorbed by nearby Glacier National Park unless they can get more visitors and her uncle and his ragtag team of rangers will lose their jobs. As she adjusts to a drastically different world of freezing temperatures, polar plunges, and dangerous wild animals, she is saved more than once by ruggedly handsome senior ranger Zaiah Smith. He looks down on her city life and very public lifestyle, but he just can't stay away. Can two people so very different ever be together?
As I started this book I found myself rolling my eyes at Cat's obsessive need for likes and urge to document everything in her life for her audience. As the story went on I was cheering for her to put the phone down and actually experience life. Just by looking at the cover, you can expect the usual hilarity of a city girl dropped into the wild and this book doesn't disappoint. It's an entertaining and fun clean romance

Seven Rules for Breaking Hearts by Kristyn J Miller

Margo has seen too many women get burned in bad relationships, so she and her friend Jocelyn created a podcast dedicated to helping women hook up with men and avoiding catching feelings. They grew their podcast through six seasons and gained many sponsors, but then–the beginning of the end–Jocelyn met Peter and fell in love, putting the whole basis of their podcast in jeopardy. Now one of their sponsors is hosting the wedding on beautiful Catalina Island and Margo is the maid of honor. But she has an idea for the show: break all her rules to show how bad an idea that is... and she has the perfect candidate picked out. Declan is the best man and also her high school nemesis. He's just as arrogant as ever and she's guaranteed never to feel anything for him... right? But the more time they spend together, the more Margo doesn't want to follow her plan. Who knew breaking all the rules could feel so right?
This story was sweet and fun with all the feels and some great vacation vibes. Declan appears so condescending and arrogant at first until you realize how shy and sweet he is... and so stuck on Margo for years! I love the description of the Island and all the touristy activities. It sounds like a really fun place to visit!

The Poisoner's Ring by Kelley Armstrong

In the first book in the series, modern day homicide detective Mallory Atkinson somehow woke up in the body of a servant named Catriona in 1869 Edinburgh. She was finally forced to tell her employer the truth of her real identity. Duncan Gray went to medical school but as a man of color he's not trusted enough to be more than an undertaker and unofficial medical examiner. Mallory is now officially his assistant since the truth came out and he needs her help. Men across the city are dropping dead of apparent poisoning and the most likely suspects are their widows. When Duncan's oldest sister is blamed for her husband's poisoning, the clock is running out for them to discover the truth.
This is quickly becoming my favorite new series by this author. The Victorian mystery with a modern twist in Mallory's character is refreshing and unique. The hints of deeper feelings between the two are also intriguing... how will they hide the scandal of an age gap, interracial, master/servant relationship if it ever happens? I can't wait to read the next book!

Identity by Nora Roberts

Morgan Albright's childhood was spent moving place to place with her military father. All she's ever dreamt of is putting down roots and now it's her time. She's just bought a house of her own and is working two jobs to make it her dream home and also save money to eventually buy her own bar. At her bar job, she meets charming Luke and after starting a tentative relationship with him she invites him to a dinner party at her home. Just days later, she comes home to a break in, her roommate murdered, and her car gone. It turns out "Luke" is a serial killer who steals his victim's identity and his target was Morgan, not Nina. Now he's taken everything from her and she's forced to move back home to Vermont with her mother and grandmother. She takes a job in a nearby resort bar becoming close to the Jameson family who own and run the resort, especially the big boss Miles Jameson. But the killer hasn't forgotten the one that got away and as the threat looms over her, Miles and his family will do anything to protect her.
This is a great thriller romance from one of my favorite authors. She makes us feel how helpless Morgan was against this skilled identity thief, the terror of knowing he was still after her, the excitement and protection of a new relationship, and the love of family both of and new. The peeks into the serial killer's mind and motivations were chilling and the action at the end was perfection. I was so excited to get an early ARC of this book and it definitely didn't disappoint.

The Chateau by Jaclyn Goldis

"A dream girls trip to a luxurious French chateau devolves into a deadly nightmare of secrets and murder in this stylish, twisty thriller for fans of Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, and Lisa Jewell."

If you're looking for a twisty thriller, a great locked room mystery in a creepy mansion in France, best friends with so many secrets and drama, and murder... grab a snack and settle in because you won't want to put down this wild ride of a thriller. I absolutely loved this one!

The Castle Keepers

In this wonderful book of historical fiction, three authors have written a trio of novellas chronicling three generations of the Alnwick family, Leedswick castle, and the curse that has haunted them for generations. Three men scarred by war finding healing in the love of a woman.
I loved this collection of stories each in a different writing style and time period, but my favorite was Tobias and Elena. The descriptions of the beautiful grounds and gardens, the crumbling yet still elegant castle, and the complicated characters within its walls were fascinating.

Dissolution by W. Michael Gear

I've read several of this author's early North American series and love the level of detail and imagination he puts in his writing,  but this book was completely different from what I expected.  I love apocalyptic books and this one just blew me away! Our main character,  Sam Delgado, is a graduate on a research trip that he plans to use as the topic of his dissertation.  Along with his classmates,  they're headed to a ranch in Wyoming that's agreed to host their trip,  providing supplies and horses to travel to the archeological site where they'll do mapping and testing. Their first idea that something's wrong comes when they stop at a gas station accepting cash only.  Being a holiday weekend,  they assume everything will be fixed the next week and continue on. Being in the wilderness with very little reception, they continue to be oblivious until some ranch hands come to tell them that the country has been hit by a cyberattack and the nation has descended into chaos.
I'm so glad this book is only the first in a series! I'm looking forward to reading the next one!
