After his partner is killed, Mason is determined to find the terrorists. But everything isn't as simple as it seems, and he learns he can't trust anyone but his closest friends.
It took a long time to find out where this story was going, but once the details started falling into place, I was hooked. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book is written from the perspective of a teenage girl that died in an accident that stranded her family and close friends for days with no hope of rescue. As her spirit lingers to watch them struggle for survival, their decisions will surprise and shock her. She watches them deal with their grief and regret after their eventual rescue and helps them to accept and forgive.
Grab a box of tissue for this one!! I love that it's from the perspective of a neutral character that can see and interpret the other characters decisions, emotions, and reactions while they thought they were alone. I thought it was a true reflection of human nature in a disaster situation, each helping themselves and those closest to them at the expense of the others.

When the Japanese attack and occupy the island, imprisoning Americans in internment camps, Gina and her friend Vivian, along with their children escape to the mountains, joining a group of resistance fighters. The leader of the resistance convinces Gina to return to Manila to raise money and act as a spy. Gina eventually opens a nightclub, using the Japanese patron's money and information against them.
This is a part of WWII I never knew about. I liked the progression of Gina's character from clueless aristocrat to a strong resistance fighter and business owner. I plan to read A Pledge of Silence, this author's first book, which is more about the internment camps. It sounds really good, too.

But when the clues start to tie back to a suicide pact where Mia lost two of her best friends but survived with no memory of the event, she becomes a suspect herself.
This one kept me guessing until the end to find a seriously disturbed killer. I plan to read the other books by this great author.

Trying to help him, she decides to meet with him to complete tasks on her "happy list ". This soon turns to friendship, then a relationship. But can Jade fight the crippling depression in Nick that took her sister?
Although I liked the different pov in each chapter , I found Nick's character extremely needy and annoying. I like that Jade was able to stop blaming herself for her sister's death by helping others. She made a really strong, positive character.

Because what's the point of being society's definition of thin if you're miserable. I absolutely love her take on fighting your bad habits and keeping your willpower and motivation while accepting your limits.

The story is told from her perspective as a maid in a new household, her role as companion to the Mistress of the house, then finally as a prisoner for a crime she claims she didn't commit.
Really good historical crime fiction. I really didn't like Lucy's character at the beginning, but the flashbacks to her past and the way she's treated by the other servants made me see her in a different light.
