Faith just left her abusive husband and escaped to her family's beach house, where she meets Sarah, a 14 year old who just witnessed her mother's tragic death. To make things worse, her father sold her best friend, her talented dressage horse Midnight. Sarah and Faith form a friendship, and when Sarah's life is in danger, Faith helps her escape. They decide to find Midnight and give Sarah a chance to say goodbye. As the two follow the dressage circuit through the summer, they help each other overcome the tragedies in their lives.
I think this book would appeal more to preteen/young adult readers. As an adult, a lot of the situations in this book are unlikely. Overall I thought it was a cute story that horse crazy young girls would like. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield
Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is about a little girl found drowned in the river that mysteriously comes back to life. Three families, all of them with tragic tales of missing children, claim her as their own. Henry Daunt, the man that saved her from the river, and her nurse, Rita Sunday, try to discover her true identity in this fascinating tale.
I was so excited to see another book by Diane Setterfield was coming out soon since I loved The Thirteenth Tale. I couldn't put it down! I wondered while reading how all of the families could think this was their little girl, but it all gets explained in the end. This book is full of mystery, magic, and folklore...a must read! Thank you to Diane Setterfield, Atria Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
